What is a Root Canal Therapy?
Root canal therapy is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The term "root canal" comes from cleaning of the canals inside a tooth's root. Decades ago, root canal treatments often were painful. With dental advances and local anesthetics, most people have little if any pain with a root canal. In fact, it's probably more painful living with a decayed tooth. It is always better to save the tooth, if possible, but alternatives to a root canal include extracting the damaged tooth and replacing it with a dental implant, bridge or removable partial denture.
Why is A Root Canal Therapy Necessary?
1.Deep tooth decay (cavity).
2.A cracked tooth.
3.Traumatic dental injury.
4. Elective (for added retention of a crown).
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a sequence of procedures for the pulp of the tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection against future microbial infection. Root canal treatment involves removal of infected pulp chamber using series of instruments. The pulp chamber can be infected because of caries trauma.
